Chief Executive Officer Baqash Wilson
Baqash has won several national design awards including the first New Day Designer of the Year, Canadian Club Designers Showcase and Golden Designer Award as a result of his background in Fashion Design he received at Pratt Institute in New York. While at Pratt he organized the first association for Black Designers called “New Threads”. Their fall fashion presentation in the 70’s received rave reviews and was augmented with the support of then ‘Top Black Designers’; Stephen Burrows and Scott Barrie.
His merits as a Costume Designer have been seen on stage in local productions of Dream Girls, The Wiz, Evita and several others.
His menswear collection shown at South Africa Fashion Week was featured on FTV. He had the honor to present a suit to the Nelson Mandela Foundation following the show! While in residence in Africa for several years he also presented his Collections in Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria and Ethiopia. He also worked with various manufactures on the continent in a effort to bridge the gap between Africa and the United States of America through trade initiatives.
He also has professional experience in the Beauty industry where his work as a make-up artist has appeared on numerous magazine covers and editorial features. He combines his vast experience in this field to help motivate young people through their quest in entering International competitions and the modelling industry.
Through his expertise he has prepared young women competing in top International pageants including Miss World and Miss Universe for more than 30 years and presently Konjo International holds licenses in Ethiopia for Miss World, Miss Supranational, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Grand International, Miss Intercontinental, and Top Model of the World.
2015 marked the embarking into the arena of Male Model Competitions and Konjo International presently holds licenses in the USA and Ethiopia for Mister Universal Ambassador, Mister Global, Mister Supranational, Mister Model International, Mister Tourism World, Mister Africa International, Mister Universe, Mister Jade Universe, Mister Imperial Universe, Mister Globe and Mister Grand International. "These top competitions provide platforms where young men can travel the world to compete against the best. This opens doors of opportunity and career enhancement for them while also garnering a need to give back to their communities" says Wilson.
